Three-Port Ultra-High Voltage Gain Quadratic DC-DC Converter for Renewable Energy Applications

This research introduces an ultra-high-voltage gain (UHVG) DC-DC converter with dual output ports, featuring a quadratic-based structure tailored for clean energy usages. The proposed design incorporates a coupled inductor (CI) combined with a quadratic boost stage to achieve substantial voltage elevation. Voltage gain (VG) is adjustable through two main attributes: the duty cycle of the switches and the turn ratio of the dual-winding CI, enhancing design flexibility. Notable characteristics of this converter include its elevated VG, diminished voltage stress (VS) on switching elements, continuous input current, common ground (CG) connection among input and output, and synchronized operation of switch. The advantages of this configuration are underscored by comparative analysis with similar topologies. The converter's effectiveness is demonstrated through tests on a 480 W prototype operating at a 47 kHz switching frequency, with a 20 V input and equal output voltages of 240 V.
