Poster: Deterministic Rule-Based Control System for Retrofitted Electric Regenerative Braking
Electric regenerative braking systems (ERBs) are a widely used method to recover vehicle kinetic energy lost in the form of heat from friction pads. Typically, these systems are simulated or calculated using known kinematics and energy conversation principles, whereas this study continues the work previously accomplished in physically creating and testing one of these systems. In pursuit of creating an external ERB that can be retrofitted on non-hybrid vehicles, a control system is to be devised that performs the recovery generation and initial motoring propulsion with only controls a user would find in a standard vehicle.
