Single-Switch Ultra-High Step-Up Quadratic DCDC Converter with High Power Density and Low Cost for DC Microgrid Applications

This research introduces an innovative ultra-high step-up (UHSU) DC-DC circuit specifically designed for DC microgrid usages. The proffered topology is based on a quadratic structure, achieving exceptional voltage gain (VG) via optimizing the turn ratio of the coupled inductor (CI). Key benefits of recommended configuration encompass: ability to deliver elevated VG, diminished diode reverse recovery losses, lower voltage stress (VS) on elements, and a common ground (CG) connection. Furthermore, the structure incorporates softswitching (SS) for certain semiconductor components, greatly improving efficiency while minimizing energy losses. By retaining the VS on switches low, the system enhances overall stability and functioning. A comprehensive analysis of the converter's operating principles is provided, along with a comparative evaluation against conventional topologies to highlight its advantages. Finally, the proffered design is experimentally validated through the development of a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$500-\mathrm{W}$</tex> model.
