A Modified Single-Stage Led Driver Based on Integrated Buck-Boost and Two Switches Flyback Converter

The significant increase in electrical energy consumption, especially in lighting systems, highlights the need to use optimization methods in energy consumers more than ever. This paper proposes a modified single-stage LED driver that uses a buck-boost converter in the input stage for power factor correction (PFC) and a two-switch flyback converter (TSFC) to drive the light-emitting diode (LED) in the front-end stage. By integrating both stages in the suggested topology, the amount of elements is reduced. In addition, the ripple and DC-link voltage range can be extended over a wide range, which reduces the need for large DC-link capacitor capacitance. The functional states of the suggested topology are theoretically investigated and verified through simulation at 20 W using PSIM software. The outcomes reveal the performance of the suggested approach in reducing energy consumption in lighting systems.
