Born and Groomed to Colonize in Boulder, Colorado

I am made of stardust, light, water, the sorrow and dreams of my ancestors.I come from All Possibility into the womb of my mother.I am loved coming into the world, my terra life, born at Boulder Community Hospital, early in the dawn hours of morning after a midnight labor on September 5, 1979.Love is the will to extend oneself towards growing the stories and relationships we live and practice, spiritual growth, for oneself or another. It is to nurture and contribute to All Possibility in and with us.I know this grounded my mother in her anticipation of me.It was the All Possibility within and around her. My mother had tried to carry a baby to term for over eight years, since marrying my father. She suffered years of infertility and many miscarriages.I learned as an adult she and my father were in the process of adopting a baby when news of my mother's pregnancy with me arrived and she passed safely into the second trimester. She was thirty years old.She kept her wavy auburn hair short. She was skinny then, and fair-skinned with freckles, and she chain-smoked like most of her friends. She was so excited to meet me, and anxious about the pregnancy, being told she was at risk because of her age and having endured so many years of disappointment and grief. My mother told me she arrived at the hospital ready to give birth so the labor must have moved quickly. She woke in the middle of the night to strong contractions, or maybe her water broke. She woke up my father. They lived in a small house in Devil's Thumb, a neighborhood in South Boulder pushed up against the Flatirons with trails into the foothills. The neighborhood was named for the thumb-shaped rock formation on top of Bear Mountain, and it was notoriously windy there.
