Plant growth regulators: A key to enhancing vegetable crop productivity
Plant growth regulators (PGRs) play a significant role in enhancing the physiological functions of various vegetable crops, resulting in improved yield and quality. In tomatoes, treatments with GA3 and NAA have been shown to increase plant height, fruit weight, andoverall yield. For potatoes, ethrel and GA3 applications positively impacted growth parameters and tuber quality. Chili crops benefited from NAA application, leading to enhanced fruit traits and yield, while cabbage and cauliflower exhibited improved growth and yield with specific combinations of NAA and GA3. In cucurbits, applications of GA3 and NAA provided beneficial effects on flower production and fruit weight. For okra, NAA and GA3 treatments significantly improved growth and yield traits. Root crops likecarrots and radishes showed altered weight and growth in response to GA3 application. Lastly, bulb crops such as onions and garlic demonstrated increased yields with foliar applications of GA3 and CCC. Overall, PGRs prove to be vital for enhancing the productivity and quality of diverse vegetable crops.
