Effects of Low-intensity Woo-Ri Dance Exercise on Cognitive Function and Inflammatory Factors in Elderly Women
The purpose of this study was to investigate how low-intensity woo-ri dance exercise program affects cognitive function and inflammatory factors in elderly women. The subjects of this study were 30 female seniors aged 65 years or older living in B metropolitan city, and they were classified into two groups: the experimental group Woori Dance Movement (n=15) and the control group (n=15). The experimental group was conducted three times a week for 16 weeks. The data calculated the mean value (M) and standard deviation (SD) of each variable using the SPSS (24.0) statistical program. To investigate the main and interaction effects, a two-way repeated ANOVA was performed and a posterior compa was set to be less than 0.05. As a result, the main effect (p<.001) of our dance practice on K-MMSE change as an indicator of cognitive function was significantly increased, and the main and interaction effects (p<.001) were significantly decreased in the control group. And for the inflammatory factors, significant differences were found between the main and interaction effects of IL-6, TNF-α, and CRP. Results showed no significant change in the inflammatory factors.<br/>However, no change is considered a positive effect. Further research should be conducted to investigate the effectiveness of long-term exercise prescriptions for more than 24 weeks. Therefore, low-intensity woo-ri dance exercise for 16 weeks is accompanied by enjoyable music and does not put undue pressure on the joints, helping to improve the lives of elderly women healthier as a safe and effective exercise.
