A Plan to Develop Reading Tasks by Analyzing the Opinions of Korean Language Learners Participating in Reading Classes : Using the SCAT Analysis Method

This study analyzed factors influencing Korean language learners' perceptions and attitudes toward reading using the SCAT analysis method. Based on this analysis, we proposed a plan for developing effective reading tasks. The results revealed that learners develop positive and negative perceptions and attitudes toward reading based on textual, personal, and environmental factors. Furthermore, even negative perceptions can be transformed into positive ones during the reading process. Furthermore, completing a book can strengthen reading motivation through cognitive and affective effects. Based on these findings, we propose the following strategies for developing reading activity tasks. First, to enhance learners' reading motivation, we recommend recommended books and develop book selection strategies to help them select appropriate books. Second, we develop tasks that allow learners to organize and internalize what they read while reading. Third, we develop tasks that allow learners to transfer what they read into other media. Fourth, instructors should serve as role models for learners, providing advice and guidance as readers they aspire to emulate.

Fourth, instructors should serve as role models for learners, providing advice and guidance as readers they aspire to emulate.
