As the core resource for foreign language teaching, teaching materials play an indispensable role in foreign language instruction. Reading, as one of the fundamental skills in language learning, is not only a key component of English teaching but also a core element in various language assessments. Therefore, evaluating the reading materials in teaching materials is of great significance. This study focuses on the reading section of People’s Education Edition Senior High School English Compulsory 1. It conducts a comprehensive analysis from multiple dimensions, including textbook structure, student learning conditions, teaching objectives, key and difficult teaching points, teaching methods, and teaching reflections. The aim is to provide effective strategies and suggestions for optimizing senior high school English reading teaching.
