The Segmented Convolutional Channel Model for ISAC
To evaluate the Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) in a reliable simulation environment, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has already started a new study item (SI) for the ISAC channel. This work summarizes the latest standardization effort and offers a segmented convolutional channel modeling structure for the ISAC channel. We obtain the target channel's path loss by modeling the radar cross-section (RCS) as a Log-normal distribution. According to the simulation results, the significant path loss difference between the target channel and the background channel causes the target channel's clusters to be out of the dynamic range of the background channel. We can change this situation by reducing the distance between the sensing transmitter and receiver or increasing the RCS mean value.
