Optimization of Distribution Systems with Hydropower, PV and Energy Storage
Addressing the adverse consequences of uncertainty in small hydropower output on power quality in distribution networks, and in order to harness the complementary benefits of hydropower, photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems, enhance system economy and power quality, while also mitigating the impact of uncertainty in renewable energy output, this paper proposes an optimal configuration method for PV and energy storage in distribution networks with small hydropower plants based on Information Gap Decision Theory (IGDT). In the process, historical data-driven analysis is integrated to more accurately capture the characteristics of small hydropower and PV output, which contributes to making the model more adaptable to the complex real-world scenarios. Firstly, this paper establishes a deterministic model for optimal PV and energy storage configuration in distribution networks with small hydropower plants, aiming to minimize the life-cycle cost of PV and energy storage systems as well as the sum of squared voltage deviations. Secondly, building on the deterministic model, and to account for the uncertainty in small hydropower and PV output, a robust model for optimal configuration is established based on IGDT. Finally, taking an improved IEEE 33-bus distribution network as an example, simulations are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed optimal configuration method can improve voltage deviation for critical loads while enhancing investor returns, providing a reference for optimal configuration of renewable energy units.
