Real-Time Clock (RTC)-Based Automated Garden Watering System
Plants require continuous care to remain healthy. It has been impossible maintain them and keep them healthy over long periods of time as it requires consistent and consecutively manual care every day, and some people do require getting a gardener to care for them as it requires time. In modern days, technological advancement has enabled the automation of doing repetitious task that would normally takes long time and energy. Thus, based on the understanding of real time gardening needs, this research paper is written to convey the process of constructing and implementing Real-Time Clock-Based Automated Garden Watering System that can provide the care needed for the successful growth and above all good health of the plants without continuous human care or internet connectivity. The system is hinged on the use of Real-Time Clock (RTC) module to plan watering of plants at desired times, which monitors soil moisture and determine appropriate time to start watering, also it halts the pump valve after a specified time of watering and will satisfy the water need of plants by auto switching off the valves in case more water is needed to enter the tank. Thus, this research is focused on implementing an advance Real-Time Clock (RTC) Based Automated Garden Watering System. The system is made with use of key hardware components such as soil moisture sensor module, rain water sensor, Arduino Uno microcontroller, relays, and ball valve. These will be controlled using C/C++ combination scripts using Arduino IDE. The total solutions provided hereof is expected to run on real-time clock (RTC) module. Through using this technology, this system is believed to be very useful in enhancing gardening process and reducing extra water consumption through automation and providing easy solution to schedule and control watering of plants from remote location without the help of humans.
