Evaluating the Influence of User Engagement Metrics on a Hyper-Casual Game
The increasing player base of simple games is what made hyper-casual games grow so much in the gaming industry during the last decade. The trend has driven many big mobile game makers to turn their attention more to developing games similar to those. The ease with which they're played, how addicting they are, and their free availability in addition to in-app purchases and ads all help make them so popular. User engagement — how much a player is involved and happy with it — is a big one that helps you with retention and revenue. All things that contribute to a user's engagement include the elements of an engaging storyline alongside quality graphics and sound, social features, rewards and progression. The intention of this research is to study the level of user interactivity in hypercasual games. The results of the study found that these are very userfriendly games that tend to lead to longer play sessions. In addition to this, it concludes that factors such as user interface, experience and interactivity keep players playing for long periods of time and therefore help the retention of information learned during gameplay.
