Analysis of Blocking Probability in OBS Networks Using PWA Technique
The quality of an optical signal degrades as it propagates from source to destination due to physical surface impairments. Because of this, signal quality can be reduced at the receiver or destination, resulting in increased call blocking. A probability of call blockage is a performance metric for all-optical networks. Achieving a low total probability of blockage at a fair cost while keeping other performance metrics within acceptable bounds is the aim. Numerous elements can affect the blocking probability and the feasibility of wavelength conversion, including network structure, traffic load, routing, and the wavelength algorithm (RWA) employed. This study determines the efficacy of several wavelength assignment methods in terms of a probability of blockage. In addition, this paper introduces a new algorithm for wavelength assignment “priority-based wavelength assignment”(PWA). The output of this proposed PWA is compared to some other algorithms. To see the impact of load (in Erlangs), number of nodes, and channel size on each network connection, the chance of blocking will be calculated.
