Cislunar Security Architecture: A QUAD Perspective
Cislunar strategy represents a critical frontier for military alliances, offering opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and strategic positioning. NATO's efforts to integrate space into its operations highlight the complexities of defining mutual assistance in the space domain. NORAD's bilateral model demonstrates the advantages of seamless integration and interdependency. The QUADrilateral security dialogue (QUAD), a loose grouping of the U.S., Australia, Japan, and India, has defined a flexible approach to address regional and global challenges while aligning with evolving national strategies to maximize its impact. U.S. National cislunar science and technology strategy outlines a comprehensive vision for leadership in the cislunar space, emphasizing research and development, international cooperation, and infrastructure development. By addressing governance and interoperability challenges, alliances like NATO, NORAD, and the QUAD can promote and actualize a sustainable and equitable cislunar future, advancing shared goals in the face of emerging challenges and ensuring that space remains a domain of peace and progress advancing shared goals in the face of emerging challenges.
