Role of Green IT in Software Development Life Cycle
Green IT aims to reduce computing's environmental impact by optimizing energy consumption and promoting sustainability. This paper enhances Green IT by introducing two additional SDLC phases: Feasibility and Out-of-Date, ensuring continuous sustainability evaluation and rigorous testing to minimize error propagation. Additionally, integrating a Knowledge Management System (KMS) within the SDLC facilitates informed decision-making and best practice reuse. By embedding Green IT throughout the SDLC, our approach promotes environmentally friendly software without compromising functionality. Experimental results show that incorporating sustainability principles and KMS at every phase significantly reduces energy consumption, contributing to a more sustainable computing environment.
