Optimization of Network Deployment and Path Selection Based on the AODV Protocol in Real-World Applications
The deployment of wireless AD hoc networks is significantly influenced by geographical terrain factors. While most research on routing protocols in AD hoc networks is conducted via simulation, these simulations may not adequately replicate real-world conditions. When nodes are deployed in a specific area, the AODV protocol establishes connections with neighboring nodes based solely on the distance vector, without considering the signal strength between nodes. This leads to suboptimal path selection quality. To address these issues, this paper proposes an improved dynamic freq-Hello routing protocol method. This method enables nodes to select paths with long-distance vectors but high link quality when deployed in specific areas. Experimental results demonstrate that the improved protocol effectively mitigates the path selection problem inherent in the original AODV protocol when nodes are situated in specific areas. Furthermore, it enhances communication efficiency and quality between nodes.
