Pioneering Wireless Power Transfer for Electric Vehicle Charging

This paper deals with the development of a wireless charging mechanism that employs electromagnetic fields for power transfer. It will focus on the efficiency improvement aspect in electric vehicle charging. The reason is that EVs always provide an environmentally friendly way of reducing environmental pollution; hence, the improvement in the charging infrastructure is imperative to ensure dependability and convenience for users. Significant progress has been made in WPT technology over the last thirty years, particularly with regard to resonant inductive coupling. This type of development has enabled the achievement of high power levels so that WPT is now considered a viable technique for both static and dynamic EV charging. This paper discusses the state-of-the-art WPT systems suitable for wireless EV charging in terms of how it enables and optimizes charging, addressing significant challenges in the EV industry.
