Integrating Artificial Intelligence with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality for Enhanced Military Training and Simulations

The combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) is explored in this paper to enhance military simulation capabilities, decision making and training. Various advancements of AI-based technology, such as real-time decision-making, behavioral modeling and adaptive learning algorithms are shifting VR and AR-based environments into highly realistic and dynamic training platforms. AI-enhanced leadership exercises, war field visualization systems and combat simulation allow virtual environments to adjust according to participant actions and also provide real-time analysis of data. The paper illustrates recent AI-based VR or AR simulators in the military domain, ranging from command training to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) rehabilitation, situational awareness systems and mission rehearsal too. The research also highlights the role of AI in enhancing training outcomes through predicting trainee actions, personalizing scenarios and also simulating complex combat situations. In the future, it will include the potential of autonomous environment generation, continuous AI-based refinement of training programs and Natural Language Processing (NLP) for Non Player Character (NLP) interaction. These innovations help AI-based VR and AR technologies to provide a powerful technique for advancing military preparedness, resilience and effectiveness.
