Participación de las mujeres en la industria agroalimentaria: Una revisión

Women play a fundamental role in the agri-food industry, not only as consumers, but also as suppliers and processors of food. Despite their essential role, scientific literature has shown that they face barriers to their full and equal participation. The objective of this literature review is to shed light on women's participation in the agri-food industry and to examine the opportunities and challenges they face. For this study, journals specialized in food and gender were selected, as well as scientific articles published in the last five years. The result of this study indicates that women play a crucial role in the preservation of biodiversity (circular economy) through the selection and conservation of seeds and the breeding of crop and animal varieties (harvest and post-harvest). In addition, they are often responsible for processing, processing and preparing food, which has a direct impact on food security and nutrition in their households.
