A Web-Based Lightweight Peer-to-Peer Multi-Endpoint Remote Control System

This paper proposes a WebRTC-based multi-end remote control system that, utilizing a peer-to-peer connection architecture, supports the simultaneous control of different process windows on multiple remote devices. The inherent lowlatency characteristic of the WebRTC protocol enables realtime video stream transmission and interactive control among various devices. Compared with traditional client-server architectures, the proposed system establishes direct connections between devices through the use of a signaling server and a STUN server, thereby avoiding performance bottlenecks caused by intermediary proxies. Furthermore, user control commands and screen video streams are transmitted in real time via a dedicated data channel. Experiments comparing the evaluation indexes of the proposed scheme with those of the typical remote desktop client noVNC show that the proposed system is superior to the traditional remote control scheme in terms of latency and stability. In addition, there is little performance degradation relative to noVNC in terms of CPU utilization and connection establishment time, and the system maintains a consistent level of performance when supporting the simultaneous control of multiple remote devices. It provides an innovative solution for remote control systems.
