Assistive Vision: Intelligent Blind Stick

The “Intelligent Blind Stick“ system, an assistive technology designed to improve mobility for people with vision impairments by offering obstacle detection, surface condition feedback, and emergency response capabilities, is presented in this paper along with its design and implementation. The system incorporates a manual moisture detection setup for surface conditions, an ultrasonic sensor for obstacle detection, and both GPS (Neo-6M) and GSM (SIM800L) modules for emergency warnings, all of which are controlled by an Arduino Nano microcontroller. The emergency system notifies designated contacts via location-based SMS notifications when it is activated. The system design, component specifications, and experimental performance are described in this study, which also presents an affordable solution that tackles typical problems encountered by visually impaired users in dynamic surroundings.

The emergency system notifies designated contacts via location-based SMS notifications when it is activated. The system design, component specifications, and experimental performance are described in this study, which also presents an affordable solution that tackles typical problems encountered by visually impaired users in dynamic surroundings.
