Surface Discharge Over Rock in Transformer Oil
This research investigates the initiation, propagation, and destructive effects of surface discharge on rock immersed in transformer oil. To study the breakdown, DC high voltage source was used with classical and modular pulse forming network Marx generator. By analyzing current and voltage waveforms, the energy supplied to the surface breakdown events was quantified. Microscopic analysis was used to examine the morphological changes, such as the formation of micro-cracks and pits, resulting from the localized energy dissipation during breakdown. This study enabled the characterization of discharge parameters and the associated morphological changes on the rock surfaces.
