Accudental: An Integration of Image Processing in Dental Charting for Clinic Management System

This study presents the integration of image processing for dental charting, focusing on dental caries detection and tooth type identification, called Accudental. The development and evaluation of a dental record in this study provides key features which include online booking, electronic health records, and automated dental charts powered by artificial intelligence. The system automates the analysis of dental images, improving efficiency in dental record management. Usability testing was conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) by dentists and patients. The usability result of 81% shows that the developed system is perceived as easy to use. Upon further evaluating the image processing of the system, the tooth identification model achieved 90.79 % precision and 97.544 % accuracy, while the caries detection model had 85.27 % precision and a 77.26 % F1 score. The study highlights the benefits of image processing in dental practice management, enhancing workflows and patient care.
