METHODOLOGICAL BASIS FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE FEDERAL DISTRICTS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION IN CORRELATION WITH THEIR DEPENDENCE ON EXTRACTION OF MINERALS

This study analyzes the structural heterogeneity of the regional economies within the framework of the federal districts of the Russian Federation. This study revealed that the Eastern federal districts demonstrate a higher dependence on extractive industries, than the Western. This methodological framework allows for further classification of federal districts in Russia, which is needed to diversify economic activity in the regions.
