Diglycerol Tetranitrate Plasticizing <scp>GAP</scp> Based Microfluidic Polymerspheres and Its Energetic Performance
ABSTRACT In order to solve the problems of nitrocellulose‐azide polyether (NC‐GAP) bonding, easy agglomeration, and incomplete energy release, NC composite energy‐containing microspheres were prepared by fluid‐focused microfluidic droplet technology in this study. The microspheres were prepared by fluid‐focused microchannel using NC and GAP as binders and diglycerol tetranitrate monohydrate (DGTN) as plasticizer. The macroscopic and microscopic morphology, crystal structure, thermal properties, and combustion properties of the samples were systematically tested and analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffractometer, differential scanning calorimeter, thermogravimetric analyzer, and high‐speed photography. The results showed that the sphericalization of microspheres was optimal, with uniform particle size distribution and significantly improved dispersion when the solvato‐cotton ratio was 85:15, the ratio of binder to plasticizer content was 40:40:20, the flow rate of the continuous phase was 1.5 mL/min, and the flow rate of the dispersed phase was 0.05 mL/min. The NC composite energy‐containing microspheres prepared under the optimal process conditions showed a significantly earlier peak temperature of thermal decomposition and a slightly longer combustion time than that of the raw materials, but still exhibited very smooth and continuous combustion characteristics. The microspheres retained the excellent combustion properties while significantly improving the dispersion, providing a better performance basis for subsequent applications.
