Usage of extrusion technologies for agglomeration of raw materials of various types
During the extraction and processing of minerals, a significant amount of fine-grained materials are formed that are difficult or impossible to use in the future. To solve this problem, the agglomeration process is used, which consists of processing fine-grained particles into larger aggregates for further processing. The briquetting process, which is usually used for such minerals as coal and peat, can be used to agglomerate many types of materials. This agglomeration method is also used for various metal- and carbon-containing waste and other materials. A significant advantage of the method is its versatility. Roller presses are widely used for briquetting, but these facilities have some drawbacks. Extruder presses are proposed as an alternative, which in some cases can be more effective. The developed and created laboratory extruder presses of various designs are described. Data on the effect of parameters of dies and the briquetting mixture on the main physical and mechanical properties of the resulting briquettes are presented. Experimental data using molasses as a binder are presented. Based on the results obtained, a pilot extruder was designed.
