European Union Instruments in the Fight against Illegal Immigration – Outline of the Issues
The article aims to show how changes in legislation, introduced in connection with the triggered migration crisis, have affected the shape of the system for preventing illegal migration. In addition, based on statistical data, an attempt was made to answer the question of whether the introduced instruments at the EU level are effective. As a thesis, it was assumed that the need to protect the European Union forced the introduction of a number of institutions, as well as a change in the nature of the system for preventing illegal migration. The research was carried out based on the formal-dogmatic method and a critical analysis of the literature, as well as using statistical data provided by Frontex.
