International experience in psychological training for police service and psychological support for police officers

The article reveals international experience in psychological training for police service and psychological support for police officers and identifies prospects for its implementation in Ukraine. It was stated that on the path of Ukraine’s European integration, its rapprochement with the European Union, not only at the legislative level, but also at the level of customary norms and rules that exist in society, it is necessary and important to consider international experience in the law enforcement sphere, in particular regarding the selection of candidates for police service, professional training of police officers and their further psychological support. The experience of developed foreign countries shows that, in combination with the use of specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to protect people, society, and the state, police officers must first of all be morally prepared to act in special conditions and situations. All this proves that the psychological element is still a key element in the professional training of police officers and is extremely important, because work in the law enforcement system is mostly associated with an increased level of stress, constant emotional and physical stress. It was concluded that the professional training of police officers is characterized by certain principles andapproaches, which are generally similar in different countries, in particular: rationality, specialization of training, specificity of professional activity and consulting in the field of police training. It is emphasized that this happens thanks to active learning methods, case methods in classrooms to improve the conduct of police operations, and in the professional sense, it happens directly in practical police bodies (units). It was emphasized that the development of advanced scientific theories in the field of practical research and acquired experience is a continuous connection between the educational process and law enforcement practice, while international integration will help bridge the gap between national police training systems. The above seems to be an extremely important task in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and the approximation of the activities of the National Police to advanced European standards.
