THE PHENOMENON OF METAFICTION AND ITS ARTISTIC EMBODIMENT IN ROMAN SENCHIN’S NOVEL INFORMATION

In this article, the author analyzes the phenomenon of metanarration in the novel Information, which serves as both a “chronicle of the life events of an individual and society as a whole” and a “novel of reflection.” To imbue the work with existential “depth”, the author employs metanarrative techniques that help to reveal the complex relationships between fiction and reality. Oleg Svechin, as the author’s alter ego, reflects his personal stance and literary worldview. However, this novel cannot be classified as strictly autobiographical. Through self-revelation, non linear narration, and the “selective” integration of autobiographical elements, Senchin creates a multilayered text that invites the reader not only to follow the plot but also to critically reflect on the process of creating artistic reality itself. The novel actively engages the reader in reflection on the nature of literary creation, the role of the writer, and the writer’s responsibility and influence on the perception of the surrounding world. The metanarrative technique in Information not only disrupts the illusion of realism but also serves as a tool for deeply exploring human experience within the context of current social and cultural changes. The novel’s literary-artistic and philosophical content, along with its blend of realism and postmodernism, make Information a significant work within contemporary Russian prose, offering a unique perspective on the interaction between literature, reality, and human consciousness.
