CHRONIC CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA AND NEUROGENIC LOWER URINARY TRACT DYSFUNCTION (Literature review)
Chronic cerebral ischemia is one of the most common forms of cerebrovascular pathology in the elderly. One of its significant, yet insufficiently studied, manifestations is lower urinary tract dysfunction. The aim of this paper is to analyze current literature data on the pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment of urinary disorders in chronic cerebral ischemia. A high prevalence of overactive bladder symptoms has been identified in this patient population, along with their close association with cognitive, psychoemotional disorders, reduced social activity, and quality of life. The importance of a multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic approach and further clinical research in this field is emphasized.
