COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CHRONIC HEMORRHOIDS OF STAGES III–IV BY TRADITIONAL METHOD AND ULTRASONIC SCALPEL
The aim of this study is to improve the outcomes of surgical treatment for chronic hemorrhoids of stages III–IV by using an ultrasonic scalpel for hemorrhoidectomy. The study materials included the results of examination and surgical treatment of 172 patients with chronic hemorrhoids of stages III–IV. The patients were divided into two groups based on the hemorrhoidectomy technique. The main group consisted of 87 (50.6%) patients who underwent hemorrhoidectomy using an ultrasonic scalpel. The control group included 85 (49.1%) patients who underwent the traditional closed hemorrhoidectomy method. The analysis of surgical treatment outcomes for chronic hemorrhoids of stages III-IV using two different techniques showed a significant reduction in the percentage of complications in both the early postoperative period and long-term follow-up when using the ultrasonic scalpel. This demonstrates that hemorrhoidectomy performed with an ultrasonic scalpel is a viable alternative to existing traditional hemorrhoidectomy methods.
