A Study on the Convergence Expression of Traditional Manual Techniques in AI-Based Creation and Digital Painting

This study explores the reinterpretation and potential of traditional manual techniques—such as oil painting, watercolor, and pen drawing—in a digital artificial intelligence (AI) context. The advancement of generative AI technologies has enabled new forms of digital artistic creation by learning the patterns and characteristics of traditional artistic techniques, thereby expanding accessibility to creative practices and blurring the boundaries between tradition and digital media. As the use of generative AI continues to grow across various art fields, greater emphasis is being placed on the importance of ideas and concepts, along with the demand for more refined and distinctive methods of expression. Particularly with the development of digital software, traditional brushstrokes and textures can now be represented without physical constraints. Image-generating AI tools allow for rapid visual creation using simple keywords or descriptions. This study investigates the evolving use of traditional manual techniques and digital tools in art, offering a reinterpretation of expressive methods through the convergence of tradition and technology.
