Enhancing PLC Learning for Electrician Qualification Test Using a Fixed Frame Approach and Ladder Shortening Via P4 Word Output

This study proposes a structured learning method utilizing a pre-designed fixed frame to improve the efficiency and systematic understanding of PLC programming for candidates preparing for the electrician quantification exam. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the number of steps and rungs in learner’s ladder diagrams were quantitatively compared to those of a control group using conventional methods. Additionally, a questionnaire was administered to gather qualitative feedback. Furthermore, this paper introduces a ladder shortening technique using the P4 Word output method, which effectively addresses the dual-coil collision problem.

Abstract

This study proposes a structured learning method utilizing a pre-designed fixed frame to improve the efficiency and systematic understanding of PLC programming for candidates preparing for the electrician quantification exam. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the number of steps and rungs in learner’s ladder diagrams were quantitatively compared to those of a control group using conventional methods. Additionally, a questionnaire was administered to gather qualitative feedback. Furthermore, this paper introduces a ladder shortening technique using the P4 Word output method, which effectively addresses the dual-coil collision problem.
