The Analysis of Vertical and Horizontal Airflow Reach Distance according to the Shape of Air Circulation Fans

This study develops a performance evaluation method for internal circulation fans in smart greenhouses by analyzing wind-speed reach distances based on fan operationand determining the optimal installation spacing. The wind speeds for each fan were measured as 2.73, 3.48, 4.02, and 4.25 m/s for Fans 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively. In the vertical wind speed analysis, a 0.2 m/s threshold was reached at 18 m for Fan 1, and 25 m for Fans 2, 3, and 4. In the horizontal direction, the respective reach distances were 18, 24, 28, and 29 m. Based on this analysis, the optimal vertical installation spacings were calculated as 13, 18, 19, and 20 m for Fans 1, 2, 3, and 4) while the respective optimal horizontal spacings were 13, 16, 17, and 18 m. Moreover, this study analyzed the airflow reach of internal circulation fans in a smart greenhouse to evaluate their performance and determine the optimal installation spacing. Consequently, the number of fans and energy consumption can be reduced by approximately 33%.
