Oxygen‐Deficient Co 3 O 4 Electrode for Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer

Anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysis cell are promising technologies for producing hydrogen (H 2 ) using non‐platinum group metal (non‐PGM)–based electrocatalysts. However, the high overpotential at the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) leads to efficiency losses in water electrolysis. In this study, we developed an oxygen‐deficient Co 3 O 4 electrode for AEM electrolysis cell. The introduction of oxygen vacancies into Co 3 O 4 modified the electronic structure of Co 3 O 4 , creating active sites that enhanced OER performance. The oxygen‐deficient Co 3 O 4 electrode significantly reduced the activation losses of the AEM electrolysis cell, thereby demonstrating superior performance and efficiency.
