QUEMODECTOMA EM CADELA SEM RAÇA DEFINIDA: RELATO DE CASO
Chemodectomas are cardiac neoplasms that primarily affect the aortic body. They most commonly present as a single mass at the base of the heart and may exhibit infiltrative potential involving the pericardium, myocardium, epicardium, and the walls of the carotid artery and aorta. Their incidence is significantly higher among brachycephalic dog breeds, such as Bulldogs and Boxers, due to anatomical predispositions. The main clinical signs include alterations in heart rate and systemic blood pressure, coughing, dyspnea, ascites, pulmonary congestion, and cyanosis. Diagnostic imaging such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be employed; however, surgical excision of the tumor is not recommended. This report aims to describe a case of chemodectoma in a mixed-breed female dog.
