Xia Junna’s work in the context of the transformation of the figurative language of contemporary Chinese art
The study examines how contemporary Chinese female artists, including Xia Junna (夏俊娜), reinterpret national artistic traditions by integrating classical imagery into modern artistic practices. Particular attention is given to the use of natural symbolism, philosophical archetypes, and historical motifs to explore themes of identity, feminism, and cultural memory. Through the analysis of "Tang-Song Renjian" (《唐宋人间》, "Life in the Tang and Song Dynasties"), the research explores the preservation and transformation of traditional visual codes in the context of globalization. The application of iconographic analysis reveals how these artists adopt traditional techniques to create new visual meanings, reflecting contemporary social changes. The study confirms that Chinese artistic traditions continue to play a vital role in modern creativity, fostering a unique dialogue between the past and the present.
