Emphasis of Znamenny chant (stichera of Great Saturday)

The inclusion of chants of ancient Russian singing art in the active performing and pedagogical space requires awareness of the fundamental difference in the expressive means of this type of Russian traditional singing culture and the expressiveness of the musical art of modern times. The syncretic unity of text and melody, centonic formation, the use of established melodic formulas with characteristic intonation characteristics, the inclusion of kratim chants in the text, the emphasis of important words by duration – the most important emphatic tools of chants – should become close and understandable to the modern performer.
