MODERNIZACIJA ELEKTROMOTORNIH POGONA I UPRAVLJAČKOG SISTEMA POPREČNOG REZAČA VALMET 14,5 U FABRICI KARTONA UMKA
The modernization of electric drives and control systems in the paper and cardboard industry is a proven strategy for extending the service life of machines and improving their performance. This process typically involves replacing outdated electrical components—which are no longer manufactured—with modern, high-quality, widely available alternatives. As a result, maintenance costs are reduced, and system reliability is improved. This paper presents the successful modernization of the Valmet 14.5 crosscutter at the Umka Cardboard Mill, achieved through effective collaboration between domestic experts and the factory’s maintenance personnel. The task of installing new drives and control equipment—without increasing the line speed—while improving product quality and enhancing the plant’s operational reliability, was successfully completed at the beginning of 2025.
