Research on income inequalities by municipality and referrals from general practitioners to a cardiology department within a health area
Our public health system attends the patients independently of income level, and the differences observed were associated with complexity of the patients. Income levels did not have a negative influence on referrals to hospital care resources in our healthcare system, whether it is for consultations (initial or follow-up), emergencies, or hospital admissions.
