PRINCIPAIS TERAPIAS NÃO FARMACOLÓGICAS EM PACIENTES COM SÍNDROME DO OVÁRIO POLICÍSTICO – REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

Introduction: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrinopathy in women of reproductive age, being the leading cause of anovulatory infertility. It's associated with metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia, and type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. Method: This is an integrative literature review, seeking and synthesizing studies on first-line non-pharmacological therapies and their impacts on PCOS management. Results and Discussion: The consequences of PCOS extend beyond the reproductive axis, and early therapeutic approaches, employing nonpharmacological therapies including lifestyle interventions (diet and regular exercise) and psychological support, constitute the first line of treatment. These measures improve metabolic and reproductive parameters, as well as overall health status (anxiety, depression, sleep disorders). Conclusion: Nonpharmacological interventions are crucial and effective in comprehensive PCOS management, reducing symptoms and enhancing patients' long-term quality of life. However, their success is intrinsically dependent on patient collaboration and adherence, which can pose a challenge.
