Stoma products for faecal output stomas
A faecal output stoma such as a colostomy and ileostomy are reasonably common in the UK. There are an estimated 205,000 people living in the UK with a stoma, which equates to about one in every 335 people. Having knowledge about stomas and the management of stoma appliances is important. Nurses need to ensure that they understand about stomas to enable them to provide appropriate care to people living with a stoma. There is a vast array of stoma products available all with differences to each other, which can be confusing to the patient or nurse who is unfamiliar with stoma products. This article will review stoma products to increase understanding.
