EFEKTIFITAS GEL EKSTRAK KOPI ROBUSTA (COFFEA CANEPHORA) TERHADAP PROFIL DARAH, MAKROSKOPIS MUS MUSCULUS TERINFEKSI MRSA
Chronic wounds due to MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infections are a big problem, especially for people with certain conditions. Robusta coffee bean extract contains active compounds that can fight bacteria, reduce inflammation, and improve the immune system. This study aims to see how effective robusta coffee bean extract gel is in accelerating wound healing in MRSA-infected mice and assessing changes in blood profile. A total of 30 Balb/c mice were divided into five groups: negative control, positive control, and three treatment groups with coffee gel concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5%. Each group received treatment for 14 days, with wound area measurements on days 2 and 14. Blood profiles were taken on day 14 for leukocyte analysis. The group with 7.5% gel concentration showed a decrease in mean wound area from 4.381 cm² on day 2 to 0.741 cm² on day 14, which was the best result among the other groups. Histological analysis showed increased fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition in the 7.5% group. Blood profile showed decreased leukocyte and neutrophil counts and increased lymphocytes, reflecting a more controlled immune response. Topical application of robusta coffee bean extract gel is effective in accelerating wound healing in MRSA-infected Balb/c mice. The 7.5% concentration provided the most significant healing effect, while the 5% concentration also showed almost equivalent results. These findings support the potential use of robusta coffee extract gel as a therapeutic agent for chronic wounds caused by MRSA infections.
