Kajian : Kandungan Alfaselulosa, Lignoselulosa, dan Hemiselulosa pada Tumbuhan Air dan Aplikasinya dalam Ilmu Farmasi

Indonesia has an extensive diversity of aquatic plants, which hold significant potential for utilization in the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. Certain aquatic plants, such as water hyacinth and green algae, are rich in bioactive compounds, including alpha-cellulose, lignocellulose, and hemicellulose. These compounds offer various benefits, from bioethanol raw materials and pharmaceutical excipients to prebiotics. This study aims to analyze the content of these compounds in various aquatic plant species and evaluate their potential applications. This research was conducted through a literature review by analyzing data from 50 scientific articles published between 2011 and 2024. The data were sourced from platforms such as Google Scholar and Research Gate, focusing on articles discussing the content of alpha-cellulose, lignocellulose, and hemicellulose. The findings indicate variations in the compound content among aquatic plants, such as green algae with 95.14% alpha-cellulose and taro with 40% cellulose content. These compounds exhibit various bioactive properties, including antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects, and hold promise as sustainable pharmaceutical raw materials. In conclusion, aquatic plants represent a valuable natural resource for supporting the development of environmentally friendly pharmaceutical products. This study is expected to serve as a scientific foundation for creating innovations in green technology-based products and the sustainable utilization of local resources.
