Clinical Efficacy of Manual Reduction Combined with Betahistine Hydrochloride Tablets in the Treatment of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo

To explore the clinical efficacy of manual reduction combined with betahistine hydrochloride tablets in treating benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). A retrospective analysis of 80 BPPV cases (from September 2020 to October 2022) was randomly assigned to a study group (treated with manual reduction and betahistine hydrochloride tablets) or a control group (treated with manual reduction alone). Parameters including blood flow velocity in the vertebral and basilar arteries, balance scores, vestibular symptom index, dizziness scale scores, clinical efficacy, and recurrence rates were observed and compared. Before treatment, no significant differences existed between the groups. After treatment, the study group showed significantly higher blood flow velocity in the left vertebral artery (LVA), right vertebral artery (RVA), and basilar artery (BA) compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Balance scores increased, and vestibular symptom index and dizziness scale scores decreased in both groups, with the study group exhibiting superior outcomes (p < 0.05). The total effective rate in the study group (95.00%) surpassed that in the control group (77.50%) (p < 0.05). During follow-up, the recurrence rate was lower in the study group (5.00%) compared to the control group (22.50%) (p < 0.05).Combining manual reduction with betahistine hydrochloride tablets for BPPV treatment enhances blood flow, corrects symptoms, improves clinical efficacy, and reduces recurrence.

Abstract
