Arteriovenous Fistula Secondary to Penetrating Neck Trauma from a Gunshot: Case Report with Endovascular Management at the General Hospital Of Sonora, Mexico
Arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) represent abnormal communications between arteries and veins, and although traumatic AVFs are rare, their diagnosis requires high clinical suspicion. We present the case of a 31-year-old male with a delayed diagnosis of a carotid-jugular AVF after a gunshot wound to the neck, managed successfully with endovascular intervention. This report highlights the importance of timely imaging and vascular expertise in the treatment of complex neck trauma.
