A retrospective analysis of venous thromboembolism recurrence in isolated distal deep vein thrombosis in Auckland, New Zealand
Abstract Recent registry data suggest that unprovoked isolated distal deep vein thrombosis (UIDDVT) has a higher risk of recurrence, potentially comparable to unprovoked proximal DVT. Our retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data corroborates this finding, with a 5‐year incidence rate of 4.45% versus 0.77% per person‐years in the UIDDVT and provoked IDDVT groups respectively.
