Research on the Impact of Renewable Energy Integration on Short-Term Hydropower Scheduling Strategies
The large-scale integration of renewable energy has fundamentally transformed conventional hydropower dispatching operations, particularly impacting short-term hydro unit scheduling. This study developed a deterministic hydro-wind-solar complementary optimal scheduling model by analyzing the temporal generation patterns of adjacent renewable sources at a Chinese hydropower station, and a MILP model was constructed to solve the problem. The model’s calculation results were further compared with traditional hydro scheduling modes and renewable energy priority dispatch modes. The results show that wind and photovoltaic power generation play a complementary role in supplementing electricity during the dry season and providing intraday peak shaving for hydropower, and the proposed complementary scheduling model can effectively alleviate the operational pressure on hydropower units caused by renewable energy integration, reducing the average unit start-stop frequency by $9.3 \%$, and the renewable utilization rate reaches $97.8 \%$; The results of the robust optimization demonstrated that hydropower has ample regulation capacity to cope with potential extreme fluctuations in wind, solar, and system output. The model offers a new solution for the short-term scheduling of hydro-wind-solar complementary systems.
