MFAPC Control for Variable-Speed Regulation of Tuna Purse Seiner Refrigeration Compressors

A model-free adaptive predictive control (MFAPC) method combined with error feedback correction is proposed to address the challenges associated with the difficulty of model establishment, low control accuracy and control delay caused by ship motion inertia in tuna purse seine refrigeration compressors under complex operating conditions. Firstly, a mathematical model of the refrigeration compressor on the tuna purse seiner is developed. Then, using the input-output data of the compressor’s nonlinear discrete system at both the current and future time steps, a data-driven model and multi-step prediction equations are established. The minimum speed error is chosen as the optimal criterion for designing the model-free adaptive predictive control method. Finally, an error feedback correction term is incorporated into the controller to avoid control instability caused by persistent bias. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control method effectively improves the dynamic response and stability accuracy of the refrigeration compressor on the tuna purse seiner, achieving favorable control performance.
